Max was born in Sri-Lanka but he and his family moved to Australia as refugees in the 1980s. He received his education from the Australian National University and the University of Oxford. He worked as a lawyer and a policy adviser in the Australian National Parliament.

Max is passionate about the Gospel and its power to transform the lives of people and currently serves as the Asia Pacific Director for the Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. He resides in Singapore with his wife, Fiona, and their two young children.
